Radiation levels at the Fukushima nuclear power plant still remain at Level 7 and residents within a 40 km radius have been asked to evacuate their homes.
The MRA and their contacts from other NGOs have distributed Takidashi to several centres that needed food assistance around the city of Iwaki located in the Fukushima Prefecture as well as areas located within the Miyagi Prefecture. Takidashi comprises of precooked foods that are prepared using fresh ingredients that are familiar to Japanese locals.
Among the placement centres that received Takidashi from the MRA throughout the week the mission spanned were the Natari Houkien centre, the Iriya Syogakkou centre, the Iwaki Performing Art Centre Alios and the Ena Elementary placement centre.
The MRA has successfully sent deliveries of more than four tonnes of dried food ingredients which were donated from Malaysians to a placement centre around Sendai in the Miyagi Prefecture.
